The Bulgarian Prime Minister, Jelyazkov, inspected the site of a future river port terminal on the Danube, in Tutrakan, accompanied by the local mayor, Dimitar Stefanov, and the ambassador of Bulgaria to Romania, Radko Vlaykov. Jelyazkov acknowledged Romania's budgetary difficulties and proposed meetings to discuss connections across the Danube, which would benefit both countries. He mentioned that investments and the selection of a concessionaire are necessary for the terminal's operation, with concession analyses to be completed by the end of the year. Mayor Stefanov emphasized the need for connectivity, which would enhance trade and tourism. Ambassador Vlaykov added that a ferry is essential to compensate for the lack of bridges. The terminal is included in the action plan for concessions 2021-2027, with interest from Romania for collaboration in river transport.
