John Healey, the British Secretary of State for Defence, announced his resignation on Thursday, citing a lack of resources allocated by Prime Minister Keir Starmer for national defense.

In an emotional letter addressed to Starmer, Healey emphasized that the Treasury was unwilling to allocate the necessary funds in the context of increasing threats. Negotiations between the ministries of defense and finance have led to the postponement of the Defense Investment Plan, causing discontent in the British defense industry.

Healey warned that without an adequate plan, the armed forces would be less prepared, increasing risks for military personnel. He expressed regret over his resignation but emphasized that he had no other option, while also wishing the government success in facing current challenges.
