The Border Police announced that, this week, at Otopeni Airport, a woman intending to travel to Paris was checked and presented a false Irish passport. Following the inspection, the police discovered that she had an envelope containing 15 counterfeit identity documents, including 10 Italian identity cards, 3 Belgian, and 2 Dutch.

In a separate incident, four individuals preparing to fly to Dublin were checked and, although they initially presented authentic documents, attempted to board with false Norwegian and Irish passports. They actually possessed authentic documents issued by the Austrian authorities for refugees, which did not allow them entry into Ireland. All individuals involved were taken by the General Inspectorate for Immigration for further checks. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances and any possible links between the cases.
