In Romania, the situation of children is becoming increasingly worrying, with three out of ten children living in poverty and at risk of social exclusion. The infant mortality rate has reached its highest level in the last decade, and vaccination coverage for MMR has dramatically decreased to 47.4%. Almost 60% of children have witnessed cyberbullying, and the number of those not participating in education is steadily increasing, reaching 18% among children aged between 7 and 17 years.

Additionally, 5,815 children were born to underage mothers, and in almost 1 in 5 cases, it is not the mother's first child. Poverty affects access to education, with 58% of families with children in educational programs unable to cover necessary expenses. Furthermore, 46.8% of children affected by poverty do not participate in school activities. These data reflect a profound crisis regarding the health, education, and protection of children in Romania, highlighting the need for urgent measures to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable.
