The man, wanted internationally for qualified theft, was hiding in Pavia, Italy, using false documents. Following collaboration between Romanian and Italian authorities, he was caught after a series of operational actions. The theft occurred on the night of May 31, when the suspect and his accomplices forced access to the Timișoara 1 Postal Office, stealing nearly 10 million lei. The damage was fully recovered, and the police officers who intervened were rewarded. Other searches took place in Timiș and Constanța counties to identify other accomplices.
