On the penultimate day of play at the Super Chess Classic Romania 2026, held on May 22, decisive matches took place that influenced the race for the title.
The Romanian Bogdan-Daniel Deac achieved his first tournament victory, defeating Anish Giri, while Javokhir Sindarov continued to impress, eliminating Jorden van Foreest. The duel between Fabiano Caruana and Vincent Keymer ended in a draw, leaving both players with equal chances of winning the tournament in the final round.
The longest game of the tournament, between Praggnanandhaa and Vachier-Lagrave, lasted 139 moves and ended in a draw. The final round will take place on May 23, with interesting matches scheduled, including Caruana vs. Vachier-Lagrave and Keymer vs. van Foreest. The Super Chess Classic is part of the Grand Chess Tour, with a prize fund of $475,000.
