The Student Organization of Babeș-Bolyai University (UBB) has announced that it will organize protests on February 25, dissatisfied with the Senate's decision to significantly increase tuition fees for the next academic year. This increase, adopted on February 16, could reach up to 3,500 lei, representing an increase of nearly 120%. Students believe that these fees will lead to massive school dropouts, considering the difficult economic context in Cluj-Napoca, characterized by high living costs. In the OSUBB statement, it is emphasized that the increases represent a real financial burden for young people, which can influence the decision to continue their studies. Students have sent an official letter to the UBB Senate requesting the blocking of the new fees and the increase of the scholarship fund. Until their requests are fulfilled, student organizations will continue to apply public pressure.
