On June 25, 2025, a smoke release occurred in the administrative pavilion of CNE Cernavodă, but the source was quickly identified and managed. Nuclearelectrica confirmed that both units are operating normally with no impact on nuclear safety or the environment. Firefighters intervened to extinguish a small fire in a technical room and the smell of smoke persists only in that area. The problems were resolved without affecting the plant.
