21 archaeological sites, including one of the largest cemeteries in Romania, were discovered during work on the Timisoara-Arad railway.

Finds include 2 kilometers of important remains of a medieval Banat village, a cemetery of a population that lived 1900-1800 years ago, and an older Late Bronze Age settlement. Continued research will not affect the completion of the railroad work. The railroad rehabilitation project is funded by the PNRR.
