The Municipality of Sibiu intends to build a pet cemetery in the Dealul Pădurii area, near the dog shelter without an owner. The project, currently in the approval phase for the environmental agreement, has an estimated value of 9,472,611.55 lei and will take place over an area of 5,519 square meters. Local authorities emphasize that, at present, pet owners do not have legal options for burying deceased animals, which leads to improper practices that can affect the environment.
The cemetery will be arranged like a park, including paths, green spaces, public lighting, and urban furniture. The perimeter will be fenced, and access will be through vehicle and pedestrian gates. The cemetery will have a capacity of 2,000 places, organized according to the size of the animal, and burials will be conducted in conditions that respect environmental protection standards. The project also includes a parking lot with 15 spaces, and the implementation period is estimated between 2026 and 2028.
