On Thursday, July 30, about 5,000 sheep breeders will gather in front of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) and the Government, dissatisfied with the blocking of sheep exports due to the mismanagement of the Small Ruminant Pest (PMR). The protest, organized by the Corbu Vaslui Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders, will start in the Press Square and will continue along a route that includes the Arch of Triumph and Victory Square. Among the participants' demands are full compensation for economic losses, holding accountable those responsible for the crisis, state-funded vaccination against anthrax, and protection of farms from wildlife attacks.

The interim Minister of Agriculture, Tanczos Barna, recently discussed with European officials about lifting export restrictions, emphasizing the need to regain the credibility of ANSVSA in front of the European Commission. Shepherds warn that extending the restrictions will worsen economic losses, which already amount to 128 million euros.
