In the last 24 hours, Suceava and the entire region of Moldova have faced severe weather conditions, characterized by very low visibility. These conditions have led to temporary restrictions at the airports in Iași, Bacău, and Suceava, where several flights have been diverted or canceled for safety reasons. At Suceava Airport, only three aircraft have landed, while other flights have been diverted to Timișoara, Cluj, and Sibiu, while a flight to London has been canceled, with passengers being rebooked. The issues encountered highlight the urgent need for investments in the ILS CAT III system at 'Ștefan cel Mare' International Airport, which has recently been completed. Although the system is already installed and validated, it becomes operational only after publication in the AIP, a process estimated to take about 56 days, which will allow the airport to operate without restrictions in low visibility conditions.
