The Senate has passed a bill that bans drivers convicted of alcohol or drug offenses from getting their licenses back.

The draft law, which is part of a set of measures to reduce the number of road deaths in Romania, was passed by 101 senators, with none voting against. The law will now be put to a final vote in the Chamber of Deputies.
