Searches in Vrancea for forestry crimes with a damage of 238,000 lei

The police officers from the Vrancea County Police Inspectorate carried out on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, home searches in the locality of Nereju, in a criminal case related to forestry crimes, with an estimated damage of 238,000 lei.

The action was coordinated by the Office for the Protection of Forest and Fishery Resources, aiming to investigate a commercial company that allegedly illegally cut down 120 trees from a protected natural area. The resulting timber, with a volume of 266 cubic meters, was stolen, thus causing significant damage.

The searches targeted the homes of two administrators of the involved company, as well as five wood material depots. The operation was supported by the Special Actions Service and forestry specialists from the Focșani Forest Guard, highlighting the seriousness of the crimes affecting the national forest fund.
