The DIICOT prosecutors, together with police officers from the Bucharest Organized Crime Fighting Brigade, conducted 19 searches in the counties of Giurgiu, Ilfov, Dâmbovița, Vaslui, and in the municipality of Bucharest, in a criminal case concerning the establishment of an organized criminal group and human trafficking.
Starting in 2021, three members of the same family created a network in Bucharest to sexually exploit young women, recruiting victims through deception. The leader of the group, a 26-year-old man, was responsible for organizing the transport and accommodation of the victims, who were subsequently sent to Western Europe to engage in prostitution. Investigators estimate that the group obtained over 300,000 lei from this illegal activity. Other suspects are being investigated for the sexual exploitation of victims through coercive methods. Hearings will take place at the central headquarters of DIICOT.
