DIICOT prosecutors conducted searches in Brăila and Galați, confiscating luxury goods worth approximately 500,000 euros, including 12 cars, 3 boats, jewelry, and weapons. 22 defendants, part of an organized criminal group, will find out today whether they will be placed in preventive detention.
The group, led by a 50-year-old man, is accused of serious crimes, including attempted murder, blackmail, usury, and pimping. Prosecutors emphasized that the group exercised acts of violence to maintain its influence in the local criminal environment, intimidating its adversaries. The leader of the group was involved in usury activities, exerting pressure on debtors.
Additionally, two members of the group forced victims to engage in prostitution abroad and in Romania. These actions reflect the complexity and severity of the activities carried out by the criminal group.
