The Capital Police announced that Atas Abdullah, a Turkish citizen incarcerated for murder, was granted a leave between January 23-26, 2026, but did not return to Rahova Penitentiary. Authorities were notified by the penitentiary and have begun searches to locate the man. The checks were initiated after he was not found at his home in the city of Voluntari. The police continue to make efforts to locate Atas Abdullah.
