Samsung Electronics denied on Wednesday the allegations of abusive use of singer Dua Lipa's image, after the artist filed a lawsuit against the company for violations of intellectual property rights and the right of publicity.

Samsung Electronics stated, in a response sent to the editorial office, that the artist's image was used in 2025 on its televisions after it was provided by a partner and after receiving "explicit assurance" that permission had been obtained.

"The image of artist Dua Lipa was used in 2025 for displaying content from our terrestrial partners, available on Samsung televisions, and was initially provided by a content partner for our free streaming service Samsung TV Plus. The image was used only after we received explicit assurance from the content partner that permission had been obtained, including for the sales packaging of the products. Given this assurance, we deny any allegations of intentional abusive use," shows Samsung Electronics' response, which assures that it "has great respect" for the artist, but also for the intellectual property of artists in general.

"We remain open to finding a constructive solution to resolve this situation together with the artist's team," adds the company.

The company's response comes after Dua Lipa filed a lawsuit worth 15 million dollars in which she accuses the electronics manufacturer of using her image without permission.

According to the complaint filed on Friday, Samsung used Dua Lipa's image in marketing campaigns starting last year, and when the artist requested to cease the use of her image, the company refused with a "disrespectful" and "harsh" response.
