The mountain rescuers from Maramureș have issued a warning regarding the increased risk of avalanches in the Rodna Mountains, Maramureș and Țibleș, after a large avalanche occurred in the Galațiului pass, measuring 50-75 meters in width and 150-200 meters in length. They emphasize that the entire ridge is still loaded with snow, and the risk of triggering other avalanches is significant. The accumulated snow layer reaches up to 1.5 meters, and the recent warming contributes to its instability.

For the safety of tourists, the mountain rescuers recommend a winter survival kit that should include safety equipment such as an avalanche kit, power sources, a flashlight, a thermos with hot tea, and calorie-rich food. They also listed danger signs, such as "whumpf" sounds and snow cornices, which can indicate instability. Inexperienced tourists are advised to stay on the groomed slopes in resorts like Borșa, Cavnic, Șuior, or Izvoare, where the risks are better controlled.
