After the recent explosions at the Lukoil refineries in Ploiești and a similar unit in Hungary, Russian propaganda launched a disinformation campaign, accusing Ukraine of responsibility. The analysis published by Kiev Independent highlights that the Kremlin even invented a non-existent incident at a refinery in Slovakia to support its narrative.

Obscure platforms have broadcast information about this alleged incident, and pro-Kremlin networks have amplified accusations of 'sabotage' and 'drone attacks' on European energy infrastructure. This campaign aims to undermine Western support for Ukraine, taking advantage of the confusion generated by the real incidents.
