Russian hackers have breached dozens of emails from the Romanian army and other NATO countries. The operation was discovered by Ctrl-Alt-Intel.

Hackers with ties to Russia have breached over 170 email accounts, including 67 belonging to the Romanian Air Force, as part of an extensive operation that also targeted entities in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Greece, and Serbia.

The information was accidentally exposed on the internet, discovered by Ctrl-Alt-Intel, a group of cybersecurity researchers. They identified an operational mistake by the hackers, who left the data vulnerable on a server. Most of the victims were from Ukraine, but officials from Romania and other NATO countries were also affected. The Romanian Ministry of Defense did not provide comments.

Additionally, the hackers targeted agencies and officials in Greece and Bulgaria, and the group responsible, known as "Fancy Bear," is associated with Russian intelligence services. Authorities in Romania emphasize the need to improve cybersecurity in the face of external threats.
