The President of the Silva Federation, Silviu Geană, accused the leadership of the Ministry of Environment of abuses in the process of reforming Romsilva, mentioning that the Government Decision project underwent significant changes without transparency.
The Ministry of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, responded to these accusations, emphasizing that the real abuse was committed against the forests of Romania and that the Ministry of Environment now has a leader who will no longer ignore the issues. The reorganization of Romsilva, approved on March 5, provides for the reduction of the number of forestry directions from 41 to 19 and the optimization of the decision-making process. Buzoianu mentioned the significant financial losses of Romsilva, including 15 million lei in 2024 for the Arad Forestry Direction, and criticized the excessive bonuses in the collective labor contract. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment is accused of not respecting the legislation regarding Social Dialogue and not integrating the observations of the Ministry of Justice into the final form of the Government Decision.
"What does the Silva Federation ask for? To suspend any competition. God forbid there are competitions. God forbid performance criteria are set. And all this, with the silence of the Romsilva leadership which officially informs us, under the signature of the general director Jean Vișan, that he is not very interested in supporting the reorganization in court, which, by the way, he has assumed. I say this: we will go to court and we will argue decency and legality. We will not be left in the face of the despair of the Romsilva leadership who believes that they will continue for many years with incompetence and corruption," said Diana Buzoianu, Minister of Environment.
