A 21-year-old Romanian citizen has been placed in preventive detention for 30 days, being accused of human trafficking. The incident occurred on December 26, 2025, on DN 5, in the Giurgiu area, when Romanian and Bulgarian border police stopped a car registered in Romania, driven by the young Romanian.

Following the checks, they discovered in the vehicle three Egyptian citizens and one Syrian citizen, all without legal travel documents, who were attempting to enter Romania illegally. The foreign citizens were handed over to the Bulgarian authorities, while the driver was detained and subsequently arrested, being investigated under the current legislation for the crime of human trafficking, according to the Penal Code.
