Between July 1-31, 2026, IGSU will participate with a specialized national module in the pre-positioning program organized by the General Directorate for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations. Romanian firefighters will carry out monitoring and firefighting missions in France, in areas established by local authorities, depending on the evolution of the situation. The first contingent, consisting of 40 firefighters, has already begun its deployment to France. The intervention equipment includes three fire-fighting vehicles, a large-capacity tanker, a drone, a minibus, and a logistics support container. IGSU announced that the rotation of personnel is scheduled for July 16, when another 40 firefighters will replace the current staff. The assistance program is funded by the European Union and aims to support communities affected by fires in previous years.
