The story began when a 27-year-old Romanian man came to the country with a white BMW, which was then stolen. After reporting the theft, the young man spotted the car in Dortmund, but decided to get it back on his own without notifying the police. He was caught in Mannheim and the German authorities are now investigating the situation, trying to establish the true owners of the car and identify the Romanian thieves. Car theft is a major problem in Europe, with alarming rates in some countries.
