The interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu, stated that the social security agreement between Romania and the United States of America will come into effect on September 1. This agreement allows Romanians who have worked in the USA, as well as American citizens who have worked in Romania, to combine their contribution periods for pensions. Although a political agreement has existed for several years, the practical implementation was recently completed with the help of the U.S. Department of State.

Țoiu emphasized the importance of this agreement for the mobility of human resources, considering the increase in the number of investors operating in both countries. The agreement will benefit hundreds of thousands of citizens who can apply for pensions taking into account contributions from both countries. Additionally, Țoiu mentioned an educational program between the two countries, which will facilitate collaboration in the economic field.
