INS data show that in June 2023, Romania had a negative natural increase of -6,916 persons, with 1.6 deaths for every birth. Compared with the previous year, the number of births decreased by 223 (-1.9%) and the number of deaths decreased by 166 (-0.9%). In urban areas, there were 9,175 deaths, and in rural areas 9,499. There were also 1,172 divorces in the same period.
