According to Eurostat, Romania ranks last in the EU in terms of R&D investment, with only €19.1 per person, compared to the European average of €284.7. Between 2014-2024, all EU countries have increased their R&D allocations, and Romania risks an exodus of researchers and a decline in economic competitiveness. Experts stress the need for coherent policies to increase investment in this area.
