The Minister of Energy, Ivan, declared that Romania is committed to protecting the country's energy security and to applying international sanctions against Lukoil. He emphasized that the Ministry of Energy is collaborating with the relevant authorities to create the necessary legislation to ensure compliance with the sanctions regime imposed by the United States, without affecting the refining activities of Petrotel Ploiești and the supply of the national fuel market.
Ivan mentioned that he will not request an extension of the deadline set by the American authorities and will support the uniform application of sanctions at the level of the European Union. The sanctions aim to block revenues that support Russia's war economy, and Romania must quickly decide how to manage Lukoil's activities, considering that they are affected by sanctions.
