Environment Minister, Diana Buzoianu, announced a significant progress in the fight against the illegal import of waste, by introducing a mobile scanner that will check trucks at the border. This equipment, purchased with 2 million euros through the PNRR, will allow the National Environmental Guard to quickly and efficiently identify illegal transports. Although it will not be able to test all trucks, Buzoianu believes that it is a huge step in combating the waste mafia. The scanner has already been tested and will be used in border areas, thus improving control activities. In the last month, the Environmental Guard has carried out 750 actions using modern equipment, demonstrating its commitment to combating environmental crime. Buzoianu emphasizes the need for the rapid adoption of legislative norms to turn this modern approach into a norm.
