Foreign Affairs Minister Oana Țoiu explained that Ion Ceban, the mayor of Chisinau, has been banned from entering Romania for reasons of national security, as he has documented links with the Russian Federation. This decision aims to limit Russian influence on Romanian territory, especially in the context of Moldovan citizens who also have Romanian citizenship. Țoiu emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not taken this measure directly, but is cooperating to ensure national security. He also underlined the importance of the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, which must reflect the will of citizens to join the European Union.
