From November 5-7, 2025, the Romanian Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, will make a working visit to Athens, Greece, where he will meet with his counterpart, Kyriakos Pierrakakis. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, with an emphasis on fiscal reforms and identifying strategic opportunities for joint investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure. Romania aims to become a regional energy hub, leveraging existing infrastructure and ongoing projects, while Greece will play an important role as a gateway to alternative energy sources, including liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Additionally, Nazare will participate in discussions with the energy ministers from the countries of the Energy Vertical Corridor, which includes Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine, focused on reducing barriers to the use of this corridor. The Vertical Corridor project is essential for transporting natural gas from the south to the north of Europe, contributing to the diversification of supply sources and increasing the energy resilience of the region. Romania, due to its geographical position and developed infrastructure, plays a central role in this project, transforming into a regional natural gas transport hub. As part of the forum, meetings with American officials are planned to strengthen transatlantic cooperation in the field of energy and critical infrastructure. Romania's participation in the P-TEC initiatives will enhance the country's visibility in Central and Eastern Europe and facilitate access to international funding for the modernization of energy infrastructure.
