The director of Romarm: "Romania has the potential to become an important player in NATO's industrial chain"

The General Director of Romarm, Răzvan Pîrcălăbescu, stated at a forum organized on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Ankara that Romania has the potential to become a regional production center for the Alliance's defense industry.

He emphasized that developing production capabilities for NATO-caliber ammunition, drones, and high-tech equipment would strengthen the country's role in NATO's industrial chain.

Pîrcălăbescu pointed out that Romania has over 150 accredited companies in the defense sector and is already developing aerial and ground drones, as well as anti-drone systems. He argued that for sustainable development of the industry, investments in research and advanced technologies are necessary, along with expanding ammunition production and strengthening partnerships with NATO allies. He also noted that approximately 80% of Romarm's turnover comes from exports, but access to domestic orders remains limited.
