A Romanian was sentenced on Thursday for espionage in favor of Ukraine and sentenced by a Russian court to 15 years in prison, announced the court in the Krasnodar region, in the south of the country, reports Reuters.
In a post on Telegram, the court's press service stated that the man, Adrian-David Chercio, gathered and transmitted information about the air defense in the resort city of Sochi to Ukraine. The statement specified that he agreed to work for Ukraine in November 2024, but did not specify when he was arrested.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not make any immediate comment.
The announcement from the Russian court comes after, in April last year, a 23-year-old Romanian was arrested by the FSB, which accused him of transmitting information to Ukrainian services regarding the location of air defense installations located in the city of Sochi in the Krasnodar region, according to HotNews.
