Robert Negoiță, the mayor of Sector 3, can return to office after the Bucharest Tribunal decided to annul the measure of judicial control imposed by DNA prosecutors, which prohibited him from accessing the town hall. The decision is final and exonerates him from paying damages of 800,000 lei.
Negoiță had been placed under judicial control on February 5, being accused by DNA of ordering illegal construction and asphalting works on 12 streets, including on a plot owned by his brother.
These works allegedly posed risks to the safety of residents, as they were carried out over gas pipelines. Negoiță denied the accusations and refused to comment upon leaving the police station.
