Tensions at the border: Russian drone intercepted near Chilia Veche

A Russian drone was shot down on Friday morning near Chilia Veche, close to the Romanian border, following airstrikes by the Russian Federation on the Danube ports in Ukraine. Romanian authorities activated the RO-Alert system to warn the population in the northern part of Tulcea County, and two F-16 aircraft from the Fetești Air Base took off to monitor the airspace.

The drone was neutralized by Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems about 100 meters from the locality, and specialized teams are ready to intervene in case fragments reach Romanian territory. The Ministry of National Defense stated that it is constantly monitoring the situation and collaborating with NATO allies to maintain the security of the borders and Romanian airspace.
