On Sunday, January 18, residents of northern Tulcea County were alerted through the RO-Alert system after the Ministry of National Defense detected a group of Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace, 10 km from the border with Romania. Two F-16 aircraft from the 86th Air Base in Fetești were prepared for a monitoring mission, but it was canceled after the targets disappeared from radar.
The alert was issued at 01:21, and the state of alert was lifted at 01:40. The Ministry confirmed that no unauthorized incursions into Romanian airspace were recorded. Since the beginning of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, over 70 drone attacks have been reported near the Romanian border.
