Realitatea Plus is in danger of losing its broadcasting license, according to statements by Mircea Toma, a member of the CNA. The television station was recently penalized with two interruptions of three hours each, and in the case of recidivism, the license could be halved, which could lead to the total shutdown of the broadcast. Since the beginning of the year, Realitatea Plus has received multiple sanctions, being the most penalized station in Romania, with a total of 68 fines between 2022 and 2024, amounting to approximately 1.3 million lei.
Toma emphasized that the CNA has applied progressive sanctions, and halving the license represents the most severe measure for editorial content. Additionally, ANAF has launched an investigation into significant financial transfers related to the owner of the station, Maricel Păcuraru, who has debts to the state of 259 million lei. The editor-in-chief of Realitatea Plus stated that all debts are paid up to date and that the station is involved in legal processes.
