Criminal group from Dâmbovița, targeted by searches after obtaining 500,000 euros from logging activities

On February 18, DCCO police, together with DIICOT prosecutors, conducted eight searches in Dâmbovița County, targeting a group suspected of forming an organized criminal group, usury, and extortion. Since the beginning of 2023, the individuals under investigation have allegedly offered illegal loans, applying psychological pressure on victims who were in difficult financial situations.

Upon the expiration of the deadlines, they allegedly threatened the victims with violence and death, forcing them to cede land and other assets. The estimated damage in this case exceeds 500,000 euros, representing interest paid by the victims. Hearings are taking place at the DIICOT headquarters, with support from the gendarmes.
