The Minister of Defense, Radu Miruță, stated that Iran does not intend to open a front with NATO, emphasizing that there is no data suggesting a threat to Romania. Miruță explained that Iran has extended the conflict in the Gulf region but has avoided including NATO member countries in this circle. He mentioned that the missile shield at Deveselu can intercept long-range missiles, but does not expect an attack from Iran.

The minister assured that the Romanian Army constantly monitors the situation and has scenarios for various eventualities, but there is no significant probability of an attack. He also stated that NATO's functionality allows for early detection of threats, and Romania has no reasons for concern in this context. Miruță reiterated that there is no information suggesting a threat from Iran, despite the statements of the Iranian ambassador in Sofia.
