Radu Marinescu, the Minister of Justice, rejected the plagiarism allegations in his doctoral thesis, emphasizing that the work was carried out under the guidance of a renowned academician and was evaluated by the doctoral committee and CNATDCU without any nonconformities being noted. He mentioned that the standards of ethics and scientific quality were respected, according to the legislation in force at the time of writing. Marinescu challenged the reasons for the allegations, questioning why they are arising now, and emphasized that he does not hold a university chair but is an external collaborator of the University of Craiova.

In contrast, an analysis by PressOne claims that 56.68% of his thesis contains plagiarized text, with extensive portions copied without citation. This plagiarism technique, known as copy-paste, is frequently encountered in the academic works of Romanian dignitaries. Radu Marinescu stated that his professional competence can be assessed through his 30-year career in law and through evaluations by Parliament.
