Lavinia Șandru, the president of PUSL, stated that the inflation of 10.85% recorded in May represents a warning signal for the Romanian economy and for the living standards of citizens. In a press release, she emphasized that millions of Romanians are feeling the effects of rising prices, with significant increases in the prices of food, fuel, and essential services. PUSL highlighted the over 55% increase in electricity prices and the over 30% rise in fuel prices, calling for urgent measures to protect the purchasing power of the population and to support vulnerable individuals. Without rapid intervention, the burden of inflation will severely affect citizens and the business environment. PUSL believes that Romania needs a stable government capable of adopting effective economic measures to limit the effects of rising prices.
