PUBLISHING, The National Union of Prison Police and the Federation of Unions in the Penitentiary System (FSSP) launched protests on Monday, November 24, 2025, in all prisons in Romania.

Trade unionists warn that the lack of staff means that the functioning of the Penitentiary Police depends on overtime, and their refusal could lead to serious blockages. Among the main demands are stopping reorganizations without social dialogue, ensuring the budget for salary rights in 2026, and increasing the number of positions. Protests will include rallies at penitentiaries and at the Ministry of Justice, and actions will continue until the demands are resolved. Union leaders emphasize the need for urgent interventions to avoid blocking the penitentiary system.
