This evening, Bucharest was the scene of parallel protests, generating traffic restrictions in the central areas. At University Square, approximately 2,000 people gathered to demonstrate against the recently enacted Vexler Law, which penalizes antisemitism and extremism. The protest is organized by the Conservative Action party, led by Claudiu Târziu. At the same time, another protest is taking place in Victory Square, organized by AUR, which contests government policies. The Gendarmerie warned participants not to bring bulky luggage and mobilized forces to ensure public order. Protesters from University Square, who came from Bucharest and neighboring counties, will march towards the Romanian Athenaeum to lay wreaths and deliver speeches. Authorities announced that the demonstrations are authorized and that measures will be taken to maintain public safety.
