Tens of supporters of the Samson family gathered on Saturday in front of the Swedish Embassy in Bucharest to demand the repatriation of two minor girls, Romanian citizens, who have been in the custody of Swedish authorities for over three years.
The protest, organized by the Samson Initiative, brought together community leaders, lawyers, and public figures, accompanied by similar demonstrations in several countries. The Bodnariu family, involved in a similar case, was present at the protest, reminding of the past drama that inspired the film 'Fjord'.
Swedish authorities took the two daughters of the Samson family, Sara and Tiana, at the end of 2022, citing suspicions related to the protection of minors, accusations rejected by the parents. The case has mobilized Romanian institutions, with the Senate adopting an official statement for the repatriation of the girls, and the Ministry of Justice monitoring the situation and taking action against the Swedish side.
