The Municipality of Bucharest (PMB) has informed that the works in Herăstrău Park are facing difficulties after the lake was drained, due to a thick layer of mud that prevents access for machinery.
PMB explained that, although the ground appears dry on the surface, there is a soft layer of mud underneath that cannot support the weight of the excavators. So far, the machinery has managed to enter at three points of the lake, including at the boundary with the Băneasa dam, at the Miorița Fountain, and on Șos. Nordului, where access ramps and technological roads have been constructed.
PMB announced that it will intensify the works and will enter five points of the lake starting next week, and the Romanian Waters will take measures to drain the soil. The course of the Colentina River continues to flow through the dried basin of Herăstrău Lake.
