Pro TV, the main commercial TV group in Romania, has been fined 4 million euros by the Competition Council for failing to comply with commitments made in 2021 regarding the fees that cable and satellite operators pay for retransmitting its channels. The decision was made on July 4, 2026, but has not been publicly communicated until now. Pro TV had committed to reducing within three years the difference between the fees granted to the operator RCS&RDS and those offered to other operators. The fine represents approximately 1.8% of the company's turnover and 6.6% of its net profit, which reported a turnover of 1.14 billion lei in 2025. Ziarul Financiar has requested additional information from the Competition Council regarding this decision.
