Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the year 2026 will mark the completion of measures to correct the budget deficit, assuring citizens that there will be no more increases in taxes and duties.

In an interview with Radio Romania Actualitati, Bolojan emphasized the importance of restoring citizens' trust in the Government.

"This year is one in which the measures to correct the deficit will be completed. There will be no more increases in taxes and duties. We need to close the component of injustices because if the issues that disturb people a lot are not resolved, it is hard to have serious social trust," Bolojan stated.

He also mentioned that the effects of these measures will be felt in the second half of the year. The Government will assume responsibility for a new fiscal package, which includes measures for economic recovery, with a deadline for completion before February 1.

Romania loses 200 million euros if the CCR postpones the decision regarding special pensions

Additionally, the Prime Minister warned that the delay of the Constitutional Court's decision regarding the special pensions of magistrates could affect access to funds from the PNRR, estimating a loss of over 200 million euros. The judges of the CCR have postponed the ruling in this case for the fourth time, setting a new deadline for February 11.
