The authorities in Vrancea County carried out preventive evacuations in several localities on the night from Sunday to Monday, due to unfavorable hydrometeorological conditions that may generate floods.
The measure was taken for the safety of citizens in high-risk areas, however, the majority of people refused evacuation. In the village of Mirceștii Vechi, 16 people self-evacuated, while 4 were evacuated to the Vânători School, and in the commune of Biliești, 3 people were evacuated to the Cultural Center, but 160 refused assistance.
Over 200 ISU, IPJ, and IJJ personnel are mobilized to manage emergency situations, and 50 soldiers from the Focșani Garrison are prepared to intervene. The Vrancea Water Management System has mobilized workers and equipment to limit the possible effects of rising water levels, using mobile dikes and sandbags. The National Institute of Hydrology has issued warnings of Orange and yellow codes for floods in several counties, including Vrancea.
