The practical test in the driving range could be reintroduced for obtaining a category B driving license, according to a legislative project currently under debate at the Senate Defense Committee.
The test, which was part of the driving exam until the year 2000, includes maneuvers such as starting on a slope, reversing, parallel parking, and turning in a limited space.
Titi Aur, an expert in defensive driving, believes that reintroducing this test is essential, considering that many drivers do not have the necessary skills to maneuver the vehicle correctly.
Titi Aur emphasizes that driving instructors are forced to perform maneuvers in traffic, which can create confusion and dangers.
He argues that, in other countries, exams take place under varied conditions, including on highways and in nighttime traffic, which does not happen in Romania. Reintroducing the driving range test would give students the opportunity to learn essential maneuvers in a controlled environment before going out into traffic.
